Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data semino.net collects, why, and what your rights are. The short version: nothing is tracked unless you say yes, nothing is sold, and there are no ads or accounts.
1.Who is responsible
Semino (semino.net) is run by Kiril Koparanov, an individual based in the Netherlands, who is the controller of the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email contact@semino.net.
2.What is collected and why
Analytics, only if you accept. If you click “Accept” on the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 sets first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_<ID>) and records the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics 4 does not store). I use this only to understand which terms people read. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Advertising storage and ad personalisation are switched off. If you click “Decline”, or don't answer, Google Analytics does not load at all.
The contact form. When you send a message, your name, email address, topic and message are delivered to my inbox through Web3Forms, a form-to-email service. I use them only to reply to you. Legal basis: answering your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
Hosting. The site is hosted by Netlify, which processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested in order to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. Legal basis: the legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Your cookie choice. Your answer to the cookie banner is saved in your browser's local storage (cookieConsent) so you aren't asked on every page. It never leaves your device.
Math formulas. Entries that contain formulas load a typesetting library (KaTeX) from the jsDelivr CDN. Like any web request, this shares your IP address with that CDN; it sets no cookies. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
3.What is not collected
- No accounts, logins or newsletters.
- No advertising or advertising cookies.
- No selling, renting or trading of personal data, ever.
- No analytics before you give consent.
4.Service providers
These companies process data on Semino's behalf, each under its own data-protection terms:
- Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC: Google Analytics, only with your consent.
- Netlify, Inc.: website hosting and delivery.
- Web3Forms: delivery of contact-form messages.
- jsDelivr: delivery of the math library on entries with formulas.
Some of these providers are based in, or use servers in, the United States. Where personal data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by the safeguards in the provider's terms, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
5.How long data is kept
- Analytics: the
_gacookies expire after at most two years; Google Analytics keeps the data for the retention period set in the account, at most 14 months. - Contact messages: only as long as needed to handle your request.
- Hosting logs: for the short period set by Netlify.
6.Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to your personal data, and for it to be corrected, deleted, restricted or handed over in a portable format. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interest. Email contact@semino.net and you'll get an answer within one month.
You can withdraw your analytics consent at any time with (also at the bottom of every page). Withdrawing doesn't affect data collected before.
If you think your data has been mishandled, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your own country. I'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.
7.Children
Semino is not aimed at children under 16. If you are under 16, please don't send personal data through the contact form.
8.Changes to this policy
When the way Semino handles data changes, this page and the date at the top are updated.
